This is one of my Liturgical Stole projects last year. I had fun creating the coconuts and palm leaf with free motion stitching and my new couching foot.
Starting with a sketch, I make a template copy then transfer the image onto the fabric tracing from my template copy. I used some white felt to begin with and stitched over it to create the white coconut flesh.
Then I used some lovely wool to create the outside of the coconut shell,
it has variation in the colour which worked perfectly!

I used my new couching foot which brings the wool through from the back of the sewing machine, and then gets stitched over by the thread as you guide it around.
This is my sample one, always do a sample first!
I went on to create the coconuts.
Adding the texture and features to bring it to life.
Using a silver and white mixed thread to add sparkle.
Added some splashes
Then continued to the palm leaf at the shoulder.
This was free motion stitching on my Janome 1600P - love that machine!
I drew the leaf outline first and then stitched over it using this beautiful variegated thread. Gutermann Natural Cotton Thread 800m (876yds) #9994, Variegated Foliage Green

And the cross in the middle came from https://churchstores.com.au/
I just stitched it onto the stole.
I added the gold chain with clasp at the side to be adjustable
Finished and ready in the box!
I found these lovely cookie boxes to use for displaying my artwork on the stoles.
They fold up and sit in there just right!
Here's Lofa trying on her new stole.
I do take orders with half payment up front.
Price depends on the order - contact me to discuss if you would like to have one made.
I also just do the artwork if you have a stole already.
